To Tibetan translators, students, and teachers,
I have made a substantial update to the Tibetan to English Translation Tool. (the Translation tool takes Tibetan language passages - which can be cut and pasted in, typed in Wylie transliteration, or typed in Tibetan script - and divides the passages up into their component phrases and words, and displays corresponding dictionary definitions.)
Recently I made it a priority to have the translation tool be a bit more user-friendly. In that spirit I have almost completely redesigned the Handheld version giving it a fully customizable display and making it easier than ever to install.
As with all other versions it was developed in Java. It is fully compatible with WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment Personal Profile which runs on a wide variety of processors running windows ce based operating systems (pocket pc, mobile, etc; sorry, still haven't made it in Palm OS based systems) and comes with an easy to use setup utility. I am also distributing the Translation Tool for Handheld devices with a similar completely straight-forward setup utility requiring no technical steps or specialized computer knowledge of any kind.
The greatest value of this version is to have all dictionaries accessible from a portable device making it a cheap, convenient, and practical solution for working on Tibetan texts "on the road" (a café, library, class, or even Asia); i.e. no need to be carrying big fat laptops or even worse, thick paper dictionaries, etc.
Check website for details and links to all downloads:

Suggestions and recommendations are welcome.
All tibetan tools I developed, are available for free in order to help translators and students facilitate the understanding of Tibetan Buddhism in the West. If you have found them useful, donations would be much appreciated so as to support further development.
(see sourceforge.net/donate/index.php?user_id=620994 )
Best regards and happy holidays,
Andres
